Grace to you, Here's what the Holy Spirit is teaching me this week...

Scripture:

“But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7–8 (NIV)

Reflection:

As I meditated on this Scripture, I asked the Holy Spirit, “What does it really mean to trust in the Lord?” And He brought to my mind something simple, the way I trust my doctor.

When I go to the doctor, I explain my symptoms, listen to their guidance, and trust their clinical training. If they prescribe medication, I take it exactly as instructed, fully expecting healing to come. I trust their knowledge, their judgment, and their process.

And the Holy Spirit whispered: “This is what trusting the Lord looks like.”

Trusting God means casting our cares on Him and believing His Word is true. It means trusting that He will resolve what concerns us, even if His timing doesn’t match ours. His help is always right on time.

But trust also comes with responsibility.

Sometimes trusting God looks like taking in His Word daily, our daily prescription, and walking in obedience to what He has already called us to do. And just like medication, obedience has contraindications. It cannot be taken alongside a lifestyle of unrighteousness. It may come with side effects too, like losing the desire for old habits, or no longer tolerating what once felt normal.

That’s the beauty of trust. When we trust Him, He transforms us. When we obey Him, He strengthens us. When we follow Him, He heals us.

Trusting the Lord means believing He knows all things, holds all power, and will bring victory at the right time.

Encouragement:

If you want to be like the tree in Jeremiah 17, rooted, steady, fruitful, unbothered by drought, then trust Him deeply. Take your daily prescription of His Word. Walk in obedience. Let Him change what needs changing.

Your confidence in God will sustain you in every season.

Prayer:

Lord, teach us to trust You fully. Help us take in Your Word daily and walk in obedience to Your voice. Remove anything in our lives that contradicts Your will and strengthen us to stand firm like the tree planted by the water. We believe You know all things, hold all power, and will bring victory in Your perfect timing.
